Alcohol has been banned indefinitely from all events taking place at UCLA fraternity houses as announced by  the UCLA Interfraternity Council.

The council's newly elected executive board and presidents’ council voted unanimously to pass the proposal at a Tuesday meeting, according to a statement released Wednesday.

The proposal was passed “as a means to provide an environment where UCLA’s True Bruin Values are upheld,” and to ensure the safety and well-being of those present at chapter activities, the statement read.

The ban also comes just a few days after campus police arrested 21-year-old Benjamin Orr on suspicion of assault with intent to commit rape and oral copulation, UCLA Police Department Lt. Scott Scheffler said.

Benjamin Orr was arrested about 9:15 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Gayley Avenue following an alleged sexual assault that took place the previous evening, Scheffler said.

I knew that when I first caught wind of this story, that it would be heavily coded and entailed a lot of certain things lining up.

This should prove sufficient that this whole entire event, from the alleged rape accusation, to the actor suspect arrested, to the timing of this In-house UCLA fraternity alcohol ban, to even the UCLA Police Department Lt. Scott Scheffler, are all intertwined.

How the officials over at UCLA plan on actually enforcing this rule will be interesting to watch.
UCLA is known for their hardcore parties. Then again, what university in this day and age isn't?
