669 1059 | Brea Fire That Threatened 57 Freeway Near Diamond Bar Is Under Control at 16 Acres, October 30, 2019


Crews quickly gained an upper hand on a brush fire that threatened to jump the 57 Freeway in the Brea area on Wednesday afternoon.


The blaze was reported around noon off the northbound freeway lanes north of Tonner Canyon Road near the Los Angeles County line at Diamond Bar, according Brea city officials. It was under control at 16 acres by around 1:30 p.m., authorities said.


The northbound 57 Freeway was blocked at Tonner Canyon Road in Brea, while Brea Canyon Road in Diamond Bar was closed from Tonner Canyon Road. Three lanes were reopened by 2:30 p.m., while two others remained closed from the Lambert Road on-ramp to just north of the Brea Canyon Road on-ramp.
